The East Central Arkansas Regional Library is seeking to fill an upcoming vacancy in the position of Deputy Regional Librarian for Marketing and Outreach. This is a 30-hour-per-week position with benefits. This position will be headquartered in Wynne but will be responsible for travel through and work in both Cross and Woodruff Counties. A part of the Administrative Team, this position oversees all marketing, web and social media initiatives of the library, maintains extremely close relationships with the four school districts and community colleges serving the region, and assists the Regional Librarian with fiscal management of the library. The position also supervises staff, develops and implements programs and services, and other tasks. A bachelor’s degree is required, with an ALA-accredited MLS/MLIS degree strongly preferred. Progressive, energetic, forward-thinking librarians are encouraged to apply. We will consider new/recent MLS/MLIS graduates with a bright personality who have some supervisory, marketing, and/or public service experience. A sense of humor is a must.
Wynne and Cross County are located in the heart of the Arkansas Delta region. Wynne offers the best of small-town living in a heavily agricultural area, with good public schools, a low cost of living, and ample outdoor opportunities. Jonesboro, a vibrant, growing city with dining, shopping and Arkansas State University is only 45 minutes away, as is the city of Memphis, Tennessee, known for Elvis, the Grizzlies, Barbecue, Beale Street, Blues, and Rock and Roll.
The starting salary for this position is $40,000. There is the possibility the position will be extended to 40 hours in the coming months. The UAMS Library is recruiting for an Outreach Services Librarian/Informationist and we encourage new graduates to apply. A short description is below. Please share.
This new faculty member will coordinate the Library’s outreach services which include building collaborative relationships with community based organizations, health professionals, public librarians and the public.
This librarian/informationist also acts as a liaison and contributes to all aspects of our Education & Research Services Department.
New faculty will receive training in the required responsibilities. Faculty are also mentored in professional development and promotion requirements.
· ALA-accredited Master’s degree in library/information science or a masters’ degree in a health profession or a health-related Master’s degree
· Experience giving presentations and/or teaching
· Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
· Ability to build collegial, partnership level relationships both on and off campus
· Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate (verbally and in writing).
· Valid driver’s license, willingness to travel, and ability to lift/move equipment, and exhibiting materials
