Welcome to the Arkansas Library Association

ArLA has supported Arkansas’ academic, public, school, and special libraries for more than 100 years. In that time, we established a state library commission, began an association publication, established salary guidelines, supported the continuing education of librarians, and protected intellectual freedom.

We hope you join us in further supporting libraries and the library profession.

ArLA is launching a calendar and poster series highlighting the amazing things happening in Arkansas libraries, and we need your help!

    • ·       2025 ArLA Calendar will have 13-15 photos of Arkansas libraries and will be a fundraiser for ArLA.
    • ·       “Arkansas Libraries Are…” poster series will have ~25 photos, repeats from calendar plus more from each library setting.  ~10 will be printed for distribution to local offices and legislators.  All will be available to print as high quality 11X14 pdfs for any library to select from for their buildings and constituencies. Sales of the posters will also be a fundraiser for ArLA.

We would like a diverse array of libraries and their communities represented: public, school, academic, special.  We would also invite geographic diversity:  urban and rural settings from the 5 approximate regions of Arkansas:  central, northwest, northeast, southeast, and southwest.

Timeline:  photos will need to be taken and shared by July 29 with the roll-out of the calendar fundraiser and the poster series in the fall, just in time for ArLA Annual Conference.

Your photo submissions are welcome!  Submit photos by using this link:  https://astate.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0Mvm8hqms6e76mi

If the photos include minors/students, please be sure to obtain written permission from their parent or guardian, and please include as many details about the photo as possible so we can give appropriate credit!

Thanks for helping us represent all the GOOD Arkansas libraries are doing for our communities!

The ArLA Conference Program Subcommittee is pleased to announce that we are now accepting proposals for the annual ArLA Conference, being held October 2nd - 4th at the Hot Springs Convention Center. This year's conference theme is "The Next Chapter," emphasizing connectedness in the profession by addressing the common misconceptions about libraries.

We encourage representation from a variety of presenters and programs are not limited to entities currently working within libraries.

The deadline for submissions is April 15th!
