The University of Arkansas Libraries invite nominations and applications for the position of Science Librarian. The Libraries seek candidates who are receptive to and foster new ideas and who have demonstrated collaboration and open communication skills. Additional key attributes are the ability to establish and promote successful partnerships with other university departments, provide excellent services, and to adapt or develop programs and services that support positive change within the institution. As a member of the Research and Instruction Services team, the Science Librarian liaises to particular programs and departments within the J. This librarian works directly with disciplines in the physical sciences and related interdisciplinary programs, creates and delivers innovative services to support the instruction and research needs of students and faculty, and actively engages in relationship building with faculty and students as well as with university departments, research teams, and partner organizations. Responsibilities include library instruction, research assistance, support for systematic reviews and/or other types of evidence synthesis, collection development, and academic outreach. We seek candidates who embrace collaborative relationships with library colleagues and innovative thinking to co-create and evaluate library programs and services as well as campus and community engagement initiatives.

With members of the Research and Instruction Services department, the Science Librarian contributes to the Libraries’ online chat service. This librarian will work in close cooperation with colleagues across the Libraries and be responsible for ongoing development of online learning tools to creatively and actively promote physical and digital collections, in alignment with curricular and research needs, and we seek candidates with broad information literacy skills. The person in this position may also support the promotion and utilization of new spaces and services focused on innovative technologies, available in the Experiential Learning department following the Mullins Library Renewal Phase 2 project. The work of the Science Librarian may include supervision of a Graduate Assistant.

Along with performance, the responsibilities of this position include research and creative work, and service in keeping with the faculty requirements of the University of Arkansas. This position reports to the Director of Research and Instruction Services.
