Congratulations to Becky Fischer, ArLA’s March Member Spotlight! Here is what her nominator, Jasmine Jobe wrote: “Becky really stepped up when ALPS was converted from a separate org to a group of interest under the ArLA auspices to make sure that ALPS folks felt included and heard.” Becky expounded upon what her ArLA Membership means to her with the following statement: “My first experience with ArLA was with the ALPS division some years ago. This had such an impact on me that I ran for Alps chair, then later was awarded the Lorrie Shuff Paraprofessional Award. Because of my serving on ArLA committees, I have learned so much. I thought of the idea to start a mentoring program through ArLA, which became a reality Arkansas Library Association - Member Involvement (arlib.org). For me, ArLA and ALPS have meant professional growth through support, encouragement, and friendship. I highly encourage you to get involved and let your voices be heard. Join ArLA to make an impact on the future of Arkansas libraries, you won’t regret it.”
The Arkansas Library Association (ArLA) is now accepting proposals for programs and poster sessions for our Annual Conference to be held in Fort Smith, AR, October 14-16, 2022. The deadline for submissions is June 13, 2022 at Noon (12:00 p.m. CDT).
Information about submitting a proposal is available on the ArLA website: https://arlib.org/Conference-Proposal-Information
In addition to submitting program or poster proposals, ArLA Committees and Communities of Interest are also invited to host meetings during the annual conference. All requests for meetings should be submitted using the Program Event Form so that the Program Subcommittee can reserve your meeting time and space in the Conference Program.
Don't wait until the last minute to get those ideas flowing and proposals submitted. It's hard to believe that it will be the first time in three years that we have all been together as an Association, so I know there are a lot of good ideas out there that just need to be shared!
