This position includes participation, involvement, and engagement with community groups, partnerships, organizations, boards, and committees. Primary responsibilities include working at the research (reference) desk, providing reference and readers advisory services, identifying and/or participating in programs and services, assuming responsibility for some collection development, and making recommendations to further our goals and enhance our role in the community. Our team is comprised of a staff of thirty, which includes five other professional librarians.

Qualifications include a Master of Library Science degree from an ALA-accredited university and a minimum of two years of experience at a public library. Preference to applicants fluent in more
than one language.
The Full-Time Reference Librarian will work 40 hours a week. This position is usually assigned to our Johnson Road location.
As part of their job, the person in this position will work collaboratively with our Grants Coordinator on the “Building a Job Ready Workforce” grant from the Illinois State Library and continue to build relationships with partnering organizations once the grant is complete. This
position leads the Library’s efforts to provide services specifically for job seekers.
