The Central Arkansas Library System is seeking a full-time digital literacy specialist. The Digital Literacy Specialist will be stationed at the Main Library and will offer a variety of technology classes for CALS patrons (online and—eventually—in person). The Specialist will also be involved in creating digital literacy content, will assist with staff technology training, and will help support the logistics of digital literacy classes and online events. A well-qualified candidate will be skilled at teaching technology topics in a classroom setting, and will communicate kindly, clearly, and patiently with patrons at a variety of technology skill levels. Broad working knowledge of current popular consumer electronics and operating systems is required—as are great troubleshooting skills. Knowledge of specialized technology areas (for example, coding, digital art, 3D animation, or other skillsets) is a plus. And since this position entails supporting the logistics of CALS digital events, candidates should be reliable and attentive to detail. Candidates should have transportation to attend frequent offsite events. And when in-person classes resume, this position will also require some evening and Saturday work. Pay is competitive and includes excellent benefits. Send your application, resume, and cover letter to email@example.com with the heading: Digital Literacy Specialist.
