Lunch, Learning, & Libraries: Ethics of the Desk

Please plan to join us next Wednesday, September 15 at 12:00 noon for a Lunch, Learning, and Libraries webinar presented by Jennifer Wann of the Arkansas State Library! Jenn will be speaking about ethics and reference work. The American Library Association’s Code of Ethics expresses librarianship’s foundational values of privacy, transparency, access, and fair treatment. While these values seem self-evident, the intimacy and informality of rural communities and small towns can sometimes make these values more difficult to incorporate into everyday service at the desk. This session will address common areas of tension between everyday service at the desk and librarianship’s core values while honoring the culture of rural and small communities.
