The Arkansas State Library is pleased to announce that Jennifer Wann (pronounced Wahn) will be joining our staff as Manager of Library Development. She will begin her duties on April 22. Jennifer will replace Ruth Hyatt, who recently took on the role of Coordinator of Children’s and Institutional Services.
Jennifer most recently served as the Director of the Bolivar County Library System in Cleveland, Mississippi, a position she held from 2015-2018. While there, she met the challenges and opportunities of running a rural public library system, managing to add Wi-Fi service, improve ADA accessibility, and redesign their website, in addition to numerous other improvements.
Prior to her service at Bolivar County, Jennifer served as the Director of the Development Services Division of the Mississippi Library Commission from 2009 to 2014. In addition to her duties in providing Continuing Education and consulting for public libraries in Mississippi, she also wrote, received, and implemented an IMLS Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian grant to create the Mississippi Library Leadership Institute. MLLI is designed to prepare the next generation of librarians to take on leadership roles in their organizations and in the profession.
In addition to her MLIS from the University of Southern Mississippi, she also holds a BA in English and an MS in Mass Communication.
“I am excited that Jennifer has decided to join our team at the State Library and I have confidence that she will contribute a lot to the future growth of the programs and services offered through Library Development,” said Carolyn Ashcraft, Arkansas State Librarian.
We know you will join us in welcoming Jennifer to our state and to her new responsibilities.
