ArASL Conference: "Reading Zen!" Announces Two Guest Speakers

4 Sep 2018 12:02 PM | Ronald Russ (Administrator)

Announcing not one, but two special guests for ArASL’s 2018 conference: Reading Zen!

New York Times bestselling author C.J. Redwine, author of the Defiance trilogy and Ravenspire series, will be hosting an extended morning session. If you’ve been holding her invitation to Hogwarts, here’s your chance to deliver it in person.

Then in the afternoon, we’re welcoming veteran educator and media specialist Jamille Rogers Thomas author of “Be Kind. Be Brave. Be a Hero.” She was the first Arkansan recognized by the American Library Association and was featured in the School Library Journal due to her commitment to advancing equality in communities and schools through literacy.

Reading Zen is happening Saturday, September 22nd at the Embassy Suites Northwest Arkansas in Rogers, Arkansas. Registration is only $75 for the day which includes all sessions, special guests, lunch and an afternoon snack break.

ArLA’s 2018 conference (Make It Happen: Arkansas Libraries Transform) starts the afternoon of Sunday, September 23rd. There is one registration form for both ArASL’s and ArLA’s conferences. Consider joining us all four days, Saturday through Tuesday, for more special guests, more innovative sessions, and more fun!

Online registration is available at:

Interested in assisting with Reading Zen? We’re currently seeking people to assist with registration and sessions. Please email Daniel Fouts II at how would you be interested in assisting and we’ll go from there!
